Amaka Ekwo, the former Press Secretary to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says “people should not allow politicians to restructure Nigeria”, Afriupdate reports.
Recall that Afriupdate had earlier reported that Amaka Ekwo on Saturday announced that she is no longer IPOB’s New Media and Special Duties Coordinator and Press Secretary to Nnamdi Kanu, the self-exiled IPOB leader.
According to the IPOB activist, “the only democratic option is for all nations/regions in Nigeria to have a referendum on to leave or to remain in Nigeria”.
This online news platform understands that the debate about the structural health of Nigeria has continued unabated.
Ekwo, a Biafran activist, made the postulation about the restructuring of Nigeria on her known Twitter handle on Sunday.
“I agree that people should not allow politicians to restructure Nigeria,” Ekwo opined.
“In my opinion, the only democratic option is for all nations/regions in Nigeria to have a referendum on to LEAVE or to REMAIN in Nigeria. #BiafraExit #OduduwaExit etc.”
The controversial group Ekwo aligns with, IPOB, is a Biafran separatist organization in Nigeria whose main aim is to restore an independent state of Biafra in the former Eastern Region of Nigeria through an independence referendum.
IPOB was founded in 2012 by Nnamdi Kanu, a British-Nigerian political activist known for his prominent advocacy of the contemporary Biafran independence movement.
Supporters of IPOB primarily include people from the Igbo, Anang, Igbanke people ethnic groups within the former territory of Biafra
