Sometimes there are moments in life when rivalries step aside.
In May 2019, while being a Porto player, legendary goalkeeper Iker Casillas suffered a heart attack.
Xavi was among the first people to contact him shortly.
“I wrote to him through Instagram when I saw that he was online. I wrote: ‘Iker, just tell me that you’re fine.’,” Xavi has recalled via Movistar.
“Pelopo [Xavi’s nickname], it was like this 💀,” Casillas wrote back.
Just 2 months after facing the heart attack, Casillas was back in training with Porto.
However, the legendary Spaniard couldn’t perform at his usual levels and decided to hang his boots at the end of the 2019/20 season.
