The Obong of Calabar Charity Golf Tournament has the potential to become the biggest tourism event in the South South region if given the lift it deserve, president of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), Mrs. Susan Akporiaye, has said. To achieve this dream, Mrs. Akpraiye said her body will liaise with other organisations in the tourism industry to tap into the huge potential of the international charity golf classic.

Speaking at the just concluded tournament, she said the Obong of Calabar Golf Classic was powered by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Director, Air Transport Regulations, Group Captain Edem Oyo-Ita (Rtd) as an annual sports events for aviation professionals.

Akporiaye promised that NANTA would mobilise its strong membership in the South-south and South-east to market the event as the biggest tournament on that flank, adding that it would create a new stream of income for NANTA members.

She revealed that NANTA reached an agreement with the ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago for future tourism collaborations at the three-day golf classic event.
