After Font announced Jordi Cruyff as his pick for sporting director position, the latter tweeted that he wasn’t involved in the electoral process.
The presidential candidate says that his team had explained Cruyff already had a contract in place with another club.
He says that Xavi still counts on Jordi as part of his team.
“We already explained that Jordi Cruyff has a contract in China. It is not known who will win the elections. But, Xavi has made a bet for Jordi, but it’s not needed for him to take sides in the election,” Victor Font has told Diario AS.

As a reminder, after revealing Jordi as part of his sporting project at Barcelona, Cruyff tweeted that he wasn’t part of the electoral process at Camp Nou and that he was focused on his work at Shenzhen FC.

The Barcelona-born Dutchman is meant to serve as the club’s sporting director and work together with Xavi, who’d be the club’s general manager.

“Barca has a unique asset in Xavi. A person who has talent, unique abilities. We have to ensure that in the next ten or fifteen years, to say the least, Xavi is part of the club’s sporting project,” Font added.
