Fabrizio Romano expects Manchester United to make a signing in January ahead of the imminent arrival of Amad Diallo.
Diallo, 18, is set to join his new teammates in the coming days after finalising a UK work permit that was holding up the deal.
The highly-rated Ivorian winger signed from Atalanta on transfer deadline day this summer for a fee of £37.3m, as per Sky Sports.
Despite contrary suggestions, Afriupdate News understands that Diallo will indeed travel to Manchester this month rather than stay out on loan with Atalanta for the rest of the season.
And Romano has noted that Diallo is flying initially to Rome to complete final paperwork before arriving in England.
The respected journalist, who specialises in transfers, suggested United may look to strengthen at centre-back in the January window.
Central defence remains a key area of weakness that needs to be addressed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, despite the recent form of Eric Bailly.
It is unclear whether United can upgrade in the position this month, but Romano described any deal for Rb Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano as ‘difficult.’
