Paul Pogba has sent a message to his Manchester United teammates after their exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of Manchester City.
Manchester United suffered yet another defeat at the semi-final stage of a cup competition under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as they crashed out of Carabao Cup against Manchester City on Wednesday night. This was their fourth consecutive semi-final elimination under the Norwegian manager in what has become a frustrating habit.
Wednesday night’s result was a disappointing one for all United fans who had hoped for a win considering their impressive form in the Premier League this season.
Not only the fans but Paul Pogba also appears to be disappointed and sent a worrying message to his teammates saying that everyone has a lot to learn from their game last night, especially on the defensive end of the pitch.
According to the Metro, Pogba said:
“Yeah of course, because it’s not the first one as well against City at home.
“So we are disappointed with the result obviously and with the two goals on set-pieces. Then after it can go both ways.“We lost today and it’s not the first one, like I said. It’s very annoying to lose because there is always a trophy behind all this and we have to do better. We have to do better for sure.”
Although United have been performing admirably in the Premier League, Solskjaer is yet to guide the Red Devils to a final in any competition. Also disappointing will be their form against the top sides this season. They are yet to register a win against a traditional ‘Big Six’ side. And it will be very difficult for them to lift the title if they do not improve in the big games.
Manchester United’s next match is against Burnley, winning which will place them at the top of the Premier League table. Let’s just hope that Solskjaer plays his cards right in that vital game as we have already seen them crumble under the pressure in crucial matches on multiple occasions.
Before that though, they will have have to get past Watford in the third round of the FA Cup. It should not be a huge problem though considering their form and their recent record in the early rounds of cup competitions. It is at the semi-finals stage that their problems begin.
