Manchester United have allegedly set their sights on Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez ahead of the upcoming January transfer market, according to the latest reports in England, as relayed by Defensa Central.
It appears Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is interested in signing the Real Madrid star as part of his defensive reinforcement in January, with the Red Devils particularly lacking a suitable alternative for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Primarily a winger, Lucas has slotted in at right-back on numerous occasions this campaign in the injury-enforced absence of Alvaro Odriozola and Dani Carvajal, making a solid impression in the makeshift position.
Now, the English giants are willing to table a bid of €15 million for the Spaniard, whose current deal at Santiago Bernabeu expires at the end of the ongoing season.
It essentially means that the star could be available for cut-price in January or even for nothing next summer, although the Red Devils are unlikely to wait that long.
Unfortunately for Vazquez, his possible move to Old Trafford could hinge on a lot of factors, including the future of Ole himself as the Norwegian tactician has come under pressure following yet another underwhelming start to the PL campaign.
It is also fair to point out that Lucas could face serious competition at Manchester United next campaign when Diogo Dalot returns to Old Trafford.
The gifted Portuguese is enjoying a stellar season on loan to AC Milan so far and there is every chance that he could become a senior team star at United next season, especially with Ole likely to be sacked.
