Kaduna Police Command has warned political parties and candidates to desist from instigating violence during the local council polls billed for Saturday, September 4, 2021.
Consequently, the command has deployed over 11,000 policemen to all parts of the 23 local councils to enforce peace and order during the election.
The Commissioner of Police, Mudasiru Abdullahi, who addressed candidates and other stakeholders during a peace accord, said in cognisance of the prevailing security situation in the state, they should ensure a smooth conduct of the polls.
His words: “We all attest to the fact that the state is going through some security challenges, which resulted in the closure of some schools .”
Therefore, we cannot afford to go into this election to create tension and fear in the minds of those we aspire to protect, which is part of the dividends of democracy.
“Local council election is a legitimate contest between various political parties and their candidates, supervised by the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC).”
