Old Time Road singer Lil Nas X graces GQ’s 26th Annual Men Of The Year issue and talks about everything from mastering the art of attention, overcoming one-hit-wonder allegations and almost working with Nicki Minaj and Drake.
Real name Montero Lamar Hill, Lil Nas X is covers one of the three GQ Annual Men Of The Year issues.
The 22-year old artiste cuddled his clone as he graced the cover of the GQ Men Of The Year issue for the publication.
In his interview for the publication, Lil Nas X spoke of his relationship with ex-boyfriend Ariza who starred in his That’s What I Want music video.
He said: “I started actually dating my last boyfriend this past year, who I’m still on really good terms with.”
“I love him to death. He’s the best. I feel it was the most serious relationship I’ve ever had.”
Lil Nas further stressed the importance of self-love in his interview with playwright Jeremy O. Harris. He said: “I feel I still want to hang out with guys every now and then. I don’t want anything that’s — not to be a whore or anything, but I don’t want anything that’s like, ‘I need your time right now.”
“Sometimes, when you get sad or whatnot, you just want to go with somebody and cuddle and kiss and hug. And I love to do that. But ultimately, I feel I’ve gotten to a place where I have enough love for me that I can focus on myself.”
He discussed people dismissing him as an influencer, pointing out that this is only a way to discredit his genius. When asked about artistes who turned down his features, he reveals only two didn’t work out: Nicki Minaj and Drake.
“I don’t usually ask for features like that. But for every feature I did ask for on this album, like, every single one of them worked…besides Drake and Nicki [Minaj].”
“I didn’t ask them directly. I wanted Nicki on “Industry Baby,” and I wanted Drake on “Dolla Sign Slime,” with Megan [Thee Stallion]. Yeah, but you know, I feel like things always work out. Jack Harlow ended up being, like, the best option. I’m not sure how comfortable Nicki would have felt with that video or whatnot.”
The artiste won the musician of the year title gracing the cover of GQ’s 26th Annual Men Of The Year issue. While actor Tom Holland bagged the superhero of the year title, and NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo took the athlete of the year title.
