A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has urged the new executive members of the party at the national and state levels to save Nigeria from imminent doom.
Also, Governor Seyi Makinde has charged the new executive committee members of the party in the state to reconcile all aggrieved members and unify the party’s structure ahead of the 2023 general elections.
George, who spoke with journalists in Lagos, yesterday, said the party’s executive members, especially the National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu and the various state chairmen, must realise that the task to save Nigeria from the danger lies on the PDP to reverse and correct.
He stressed the need for the new executives to ensure that the right people were elected as the party’s candidates in the primaries if PDP must make any meaningful impact in the coming 2023 elections.
George, who said the task would not be easy, urged the new executive members and the PDP to return sanity, truth, justice, predictability, fairness and equitable balance to Nigeria.
Makinde, while receiving the new executive committee members who visited him, appealed to them to be fair and just to all members.
He said the state chapter of the PDP was lucky that the Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, is from Oyo State. He said this would afford the chapter the channel to reach the very top decision-makers.
He said: “I think by now, even the aggrieved members know where the party structure is. But we are not going to say they should go away as we also have to reach out to them. When the general populace pushed us to get ourselves organised that they will vote for PDP, some of our members did not believe it would work.”
“We said something to ourselves that we may have a disagreement because there will always be disagreement in every human interaction. But what we are saying is that even if we have a disagreement, let us get ourselves together to get power and then the disagreement will go to the Government House where we will all settle it.”
