Barcelona and Atletico are set to lock horns on Sunday afternoon and Diego Simeone started his mind games early.
Speaking before the game, the Atleti coach hit back at Xavi for saying his tactics do not suit big teams back in 2016.
Now Xavi has clarified his claims in a calm and polite manner.
“It wouldn’t be Barca’s style, it wouldn’t fit in, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have merit and isn’t competitive,” the Barca boss said, as quoted by BeIN Sports.
“People wouldn’t understand if we were defensive. They win and it’s legal to play like that, but it’s not my style.
“It doesn’t mean I don’t admire him. Cholo is a great coach, it’s not a criticism.”
