Tottenham were pretty confident of signing Adama Traore in the January transfer window before Barcelona stepped in.
The English clubs offered Adama a pay increase and started their bid for the winger from €18m, which was turned down by Wolves, as per Sky Sports. They were readying an improved bid before things took a different turn.
Since the 26-year-old was earning €55k-per-week or €3m per year at Wolves, he could’ve easily doubled his wages with a move to Spurs.
However, Laporta called and promised Adama big things at Barcelona, despite lower wages. The player’s head was turned and he boarded the next flight to Catalonia.
Barcelona will have to pay Wolves €30m in the summer, or negotiate a deal involving Trincao, if they intend to keep Adama permanently.
