Barcelona has identified their next targets for the summer and the plan seems to be going smoothly as of now. In the winter the main focus was on the frontline since the end of the season will be dedicated by the number of times they can outscore their opponents. While the frontline and the attack of a team has an easier solution, the defense takes a bit more time since there needs to be a lot of coordination captained by a strong leader persona. Barca needs a new centre-back but they also need new fullbacks and it seems like they have now identified their right-back target.
While there were talks about bringing in Cesar Azpilicueta from Chelsea, the Blues captain would be more of a temporary solution than a full-on replacement for Dani Alves. The Spaniard is himself 32 years old, making him a veteran at the game however, he does not have many years left to play. The Catalans need a younger alternative and that is where Noussair Mazraoui comes in. The 24-year-old right-back has been in the Ajax family for almost 10 years now and he was even in the youth academy back in 2006. He is a Sergio Dest type player wherein he runs up and down the pitch and tries to help out on both ends of the game.
Barcelona could potentially secure Noussair Mazraoui
Last season he was not the regular starter for the club and he got only one assist and one goal in all competitions. However, this season he has been selected more frequently and has already managed to get five goals and four assists in all competitions. While there is competition for the player from Premier League sides, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, he has already expressed that he does not want to move to England. Barca and Ajax also have a special connection which makes them the number one contender for the player and the deal will most likely see Mazraoui coming to Catalunya while Dest makes his way back to Netherland.
