The UK government has given the green line to continue the Chelsea sale process, The Athletic reveals.
The process was put on hold after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned, with all his assets frozen and Chelsea allowed to operate under a special licence.
However, after consultations with Raine Group, a bank that was initially tasked with the sale, the government allowed it to go ahead.
There is optimism that the deal could be completed within the next four to six weeks. There are several interested parties remaining.
The key condition of the sale would be that Abramovich would not get a penny from the transaction.
