Erik ten Hag is ready to give Andreas Pereira another chance at Man United, as per the reliable Rob Dawson of ESPN.
The Dutchman reportedly believes that Andreas has the energy and technical ability to be a part of his set-up at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag worked with the midfielder at PSV and could keep him as an additional midfield option for the next campaign.
With that being said, we look at a few ways Andreas can be utilized at United next season.
Option 1: As no.8
Erik can play a 4-3-3 formation at United as he often did during his years at Ajax. In that role, United are likely to deploy two no.8s or central midfielders that will play an advanced role ahead of a defensive midfielder.
Andreas can operate as a box-to-box midfielder in that role if Ten Hag wants him to. The Brazilian midfielder is quite creative and capable of scoring bangers from afar. He can play with Bruno Fernandes and cause trouble to lowly opposition.
Option 2: In midfield pivot
Andreas can also play in a midfield pivot, as he did all season long for Flamengo in the last campaign. Pereira can play with his fellow Brazilian Fred in that role at Old Trafford next season if able to win over Ten Hag.
Pereira’s energetic ability can help maintain a decent tempo to things in midfield and he can probably allow Bruno to play a bit further forward up the field too.
Option 3: As rotational prospect
Realistically, Erik will use Andreas as a rotational option if he decides to keep him in the squad next season. Pereira is a pretty versatile figure in midfield and can play in a variety of areas.
He can even replace Bruno in the no.10 role and play as an attacking midfielder if needed. He’ll be able to provide cover in the midfield pivot and deeper midfield areas if need be.
