Manchester United conceded goals for fun in the last campaign and the defense must be improved in the summer transfer window.
The name of Matthijs de Ligt has been on the radar at Old Trafford lately and the latest reports in the Italian media (press image provided below) are intriguing.
According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Chelsea have tried to sign the Netherlands central defender by offering cash plus Pulisic/Werner but the deals have been turned down by Juventus.
The famous Italian news source have mentioned that the Old Lady only want cash and are looking to get a fee of 120 million euros (£103million) from the sale of the 22-year-old defender.
It is stated that if the £103million release clause is activated then the Bianconeri will receive a capital gain of £74million. The funds would be used to target players like Koulibaly, Akanji and Gabriel to improve the backline.
As per Corriere dello Sport, the Stamford Bridge outfit are expected to make a new offer but they face competition from Manchester United, who do not give up and press to sign De Ligt.
CdS claim that Man United have a great strength i.e. the presence of Erik ten Hag and his close relations with the young defender.
It is reported that the Red Devils would like to take advantage of that relationship in order to get the signing done.
De Ligt was top quality at Ajax under Ten Hag and has been a key member of the Juventus squad since moving to Italy in 2019. The Serie A giants want the Dutch player to serve the club for years now that Chiellini has left.
However, the renewal talks have not progressed and a sale seems likely. In your opinion, should Man United bid £103million to sign Matthijs de Ligt.
