Manchester United are intensifying their efforts to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax and a new offer has been submitted by the Red Devils.
According to De Telegraaf, Man Utd have tabled a bid worth 50 million euros (£42.4million) and the Dutch side are now contemplating whether to accept the offer or not.
The Amsterdam-based news source have mentioned that Ajax must ask themselves can they really afford to reject the offer now that Man Utd have gone the extra mile to secure the signing.
It is stated that the funds would allow Alfred Schreuder to strengthen his backline for next season and it is going to be hard to hold on to the Argentine international.
De Telegraaf claim that for now, the 24-year-old central defender has not made any noise but Ajax know that he wants to move to England.
Moreover, if they continue to block the move, the player might take matters into his own hands to get the deal over the line.
The former Defensa defender had a successful last campaign in which he won the league title under Ten Hag with the Eredivisie giants and the Copa America and the Finalissima with the national side.
Martinez has won every major domestic prize in the Netherlands but still, he has not been able to consistently start for Argentina.
Therefore, he needs to step up in his career and move to a bigger league. The question is, can he prove his worth in the Premier League with Man Utd? Only time will tell.
