Manchester United defeated Liverpool 4-0 in their first preseason tour game, with goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial, and Facundo Pellistri.
Erik ten Hag got off to a flying start at Manchester United, watching his team thrash Liverpool for four goals in Bangkok.
For United’s preseason opening, the Dutchman picked a solid starting lineup consisting entirely of first-team squad players, while Jurgen Klopp seized the opportunity to test many youngsters.
United’s Jadon Sancho scored in the 12th minute, and two quick goals from Fred and Martial made it 3-0 by halftime.
During the game, both managers made multiple substitutions, with Klopp deploying a total of 32 players. Ten Hag deployed ten less players, and there was anxiety when David de Gea indicated in the 68th minute that he would need to come off due to injury.
Facundo Pellistri, who came on at halftime in place of Sancho, completed the scoring. United’s next trip will take them to Australia, where they will face Melbourne Victory on July 15.
