Manchester United has not ruled out signing Antony from Ajax.
According to a recent TalkSPORT story, the Red Devils’ summer expenditure could still include bringing in a new right-sided attacker.
Mason Greenwood is still suspended indefinitely by the club, Amad is still very young and inexperienced, and Facundo Pellistri appears to be heading out on loan again (ESPN), so it is not surprising to see new boss Erik ten Hag, who knows Antony from their time working together in Amsterdam, working to strengthen his right-sided options.
Although the latest claims will be thrilling for United supporters, the club’s administration will need to exercise caution after Ajax reportedly paid a stunning £69 million for the Brazil international (De Telegraaf via Express).
If the Red Devils sign Antony before the transfer window closes on September 1st, he will be their fourth summer addition, following Tyrell Malacia, free agent Christian Eriksen, and former Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez.
Since joining Ajax from South American side Sao Paulo in 2020, the 22-year-old, who has three years left on his contract, has appeared in 78 appearances across all competitions, directly contributing to 42 goals.
