If you saw the now viral video of a man preparing what he describes as Nigerian beef stew but couldn’t be more different then you understand why we had to bring the real life recipe to you.
Stew is a staple Nigerian dish but what makes it different is usually the protein added to it. Fish, beef, chicken, or turkey are just some of the proteins that can be added to a typical Nigerian stew.
Nigerian stew can be enjoyed with rice, spaghetti and even swallows like eba (as long as you add some vegetables or okra to the mix.)
Here’s your detailed recipe to make Nigerian beef stew the right way.
Ingredients
- Beef
- Tomatoes
- Scotch bonnet
- Bell peppers
- Garlic and ginger
- Vegetable oil
Method
- First start by boiling the beef, making sure to spice properly with maggi, thyme, salt and onions. Keep aside the stock.
- Blend tomatoes, scotch bonnet, bell peppers, garlic and ginger together.
- Boil the mix.
- Fry the beef and using the same oil (be sure to reduce if too much) fry some onions, tin tomatoes and add in the tomato mix.
- Add the beef stock and season appropriately. After some time add in the beef and leave to boil.
- Serve as a side with your rice, potatoes or spaghetti.
