- Jose Mourinho has admitted he wishes he could turn to Roma female star Carina Wenninger amid his side’s injury crisis
- Wenninger has been in top shape for Roma’s female team and recently helped them win the Italian top-flight title
- Mourinho is keen to help his charges secure a top-four finish at the end of the season so they can play in the Champions League
Jose Mourinho has made a cheeky suggestion that he would be open to playing Roma’s female star Carina Wenninger in the men’s team.
The Special One made the suggestion amid Roma’s injury crisis, which has seen key players sidelined as the Serie A season enters a critical stage.
The injury crisis has somewhat impacted Roma’s bid to seal a top-four finish at the end of the season, with Mourinho keen to guide the side back to the Champions League.
Afriupdate reports that Mourinho’s men had to settle for a 1-1 draw with AC Milan on Saturday, with Tammy Abraham initially appearing to win it for Roma at stoppage time – only for his goal to be cancelled.
The draw leaves Roma sitting in fifth in the Serie A standings, one place below AC Milan, with both sides on 57 points.
Mourinho wants Carina Wenninger
With only six games left to end the season, Mourinho wishes he could turn to female centre-back Wenninger.
The Roma female star, who is on loan from Bayern, recently helped the women’s team win the Italian top-flight title.
According to Mourinho, she could be a great addition to his team as they enter a critical stage of the season.
“The women’s team just won the Scudetto,” Metro UK quoted Mourinho saying after Roma’s 1-1 draw with AC Milan.
“They have a very good centre-back who played for Bayern Munich (Wenninger), maybe she can play for us,” he added.
