The immersive storytelling platform Scriptic Raises $5.7M on Thursday to grow its portfolio of phone-first interactive games that are generated using generative AI techniques. Scriptic was formerly known as ElectricNoir.
Along with launching a brand-new initiative that focuses on user-generated content, the studio plans to utilize the funds in order to expand its workforce of TV and gaming professionals.
Scriptic intends to recruit third-party authors, and then provide those authors with access to AI-enabled authoring tools so that the authors can publish and sell their own phone-first stories on the platform.

Bitkraft Ventures was the driving force behind the investment round, with involvement from a number of other investors including the Amazon Alexa Fund and Tower 26.
A total of $8.2 million has been raised by Scriptic, which may be an indication that generative AI is emerging as a prominent new trend in the field of mobile gaming.
Scriptic was able to close an initial seed round funding of $2.5 million earlier this year thanks to contributions from Vgames and Moonfire, in addition to angel investors Kevin Lin, co-founder of Twitch, and David Helgason, founder of Unity.
The video game Scriptic: Crime Stories is the one for which the company is best known. This title was re-released by Netflix Games in 2022. The crime drama is told in episodes, and viewers are given the opportunity to participate in the narrative through the use of their phones. Players are tasked with solving a murder mystery by examining the victim’s phone, which contains a variety of data such as voice notes, text message threads, surveillance footage, and more.

Nihal Tharoor, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, and Benedict Tatham, its Chief Creative Officer, established the studio in London in 2018. Scriptic has been an early adopter of generative AI technologies for use in narrative writing. The company claimed in its release that it employed ChatGPT and DALL-E in 2021 to assist with content generation. In order to include text, photos, video, and music into its interactive experiences, the company uses a number of different artificial intelligence products such as Midjourney, Runway Gen-2, ElevenLabs, and Murf.ai.
Scriptic Raises $5.7M It was also highlighted by Scriptic that “human creatives” use the tools as a source of creative inspiration.
“We created Scriptic with the aim of entertaining the world with stories that reflect our ever-changing digital lives,”
Tharoor said in a statement about the company’s motivations.
“We’ve been able to create immersive stories that really resonate with audiences, purpose-built for the most interactive medium there is — our phones.” “By bringing together a hugely talented creative team, our proprietary tech offering, and a host of cutting-edge generative AI technologies,” the authors write, “we’ve been able to create immersive stories.”
Tharoor went on to say that the financing announced today will assist Scriptic in realizing its aim of “becoming the Roblox of narrative.”
According to the business, its Scriptic software has garnered 1.5 million organic installs across Android and iOS devices combined. Through its app, Scriptic has released a number of titles, including the comedic courtroom drama You Be The Judge! and the zombie series Viral.
