YouTube set to tests “Stable Volume” feature on that aims to address the issue of inconsistent volume levels across videos on the platform. Many users have experienced situations where some videos are significantly louder than others, leading to unexpected jumps in volume and an overall inconsistent viewing experience.
This feature is designed to normalize and compress the audio to ensure a more consistent and pleasant sound level.
YouTube tests “Stable Volume” as the demand for sound leveling is not new and has been addressed by other media providers in various ways. For instance, smart TVs, sound systems, and media players like Roku have already implemented features such as Automatic Volume Leveling to mitigate issues like excessively loud commercials. YouTube’s implementation of the Stable Volume feature follows in the footsteps of these advancements, offering users a more seamless and enjoyable viewing experience.
YouTube has not made an official announcement regarding the launch of the Stable Volume feature. However, some users, including popular YouTube creator M. Brandon Lee, have reported seeing the feature appear in their app. Lee speculated that the feature likely acts as a normalizer and compressor to even out volume levels not only between videos but also within different parts of a video itself.
YouTube now has a feature called “Stable volume.”
I’m not entirely sure what it is, but I think it may be a normalizer and compressor that evens out the volume so you don’t have big jumps in volume between videos and even parts of a video itself.
