- Davide has joined the Giallorossi on loan after extending his Chelsea contract until 2022.
- The club’s sporting director Gianluca Petrachi is the one who convinced the 27-year-old to sign for the Italians.
- Zappacosta previously worked under Petrachi at Torino.
Davide Zappacosta signed for AS Roma on a six-month loan deal on Wednesday. The 27-year-old also extended his Chelsea contract until 2022 before making a switch to the Giallorossi. The right-back is likely to leave the Blues on a permanent basis when the transfer ban is finished.
Following his move to the Serie A outfit, he revealed how the club’s sporting director Gianluca Petrachi influenced his decision to sign for the Giallorossi.
“He was definitely important because I know him from our time at Torino,” Davide told Roma’s official website. “I know what kind of person he is: I know how much he cares and how passionate he is. That was definitely something that influenced my decision but, regardless of that, Roma is a big club with good prospects.”
Zappacosta worked under Petrachi for two years at Torino. It was Gianluca who landed the full-back at the Bulls from Atalanta in 2015.
