Iconic US women’s star Megan Rapinoe could join Barcelona Femeni! Rapinoe has recently expressed her love for the Catalans’ playing style. She has also hinted at a potential move to Spain.
Barca women team has started the 2019/2020 campaign in an outstanding manner. They have already beaten two Madrid-based sides: 9-1 against CD Tacon (future Real Madrid) and 6-1 against Atletico Madrid.
Barca head coach Maria Teixidor has already opened the door to Rapinoe’s arrival. She believes her team is now in a position to sign such a player as the 34-year-old legend.
That’s what Rapinoe has recently said on Barca: “How Barcelona plays is beautiful and inspiring; it’s a joy to see them. Also, Atletico plays with such intensity that is always so much fun, and obviously, Real Madrid has great players, but Barcelona is number one in my heart.”
Rapinoe has won two consecutive Women’s World Cups – in 2015 and in 2019. In total, she has scored 50 goals in 158 appearances for the United States. The 34-year-old has also attracted plenty of attention for her bold feministic statements during this year’s World Cup.
Here is Rapinoe’s one of the most inspirational quotes: “I feel like it’s actually everybody’s responsibility to use whatever platform they have to do good in the world, basically, and to try to make our society better, whether you’re an accountant or an activist or an athlete or whatever it is. I think it’s everybody’s responsibility.”
