Sony has just unveiled a new vehicle. Featured at CES 2020, the new concept car comes in the form of a sleek sedan by the name of Vision-S. While this news may certainly come as a surprise, Sony does have a long track record of opening up new product categories to its offerings, like cellphones, cameras and even the infamous Walkman.
Sony Vision-S: According to sources, the tech company partnered with industry heavyweights Continental, Bosch, Genetex, Magna and Nvidia for the Vision-S’ build. It isn’t exactly clear, however, if this means the Japanese company will be venturing into auto-manufacturing. Sources have speculated, instead, that the prototype may be a way for Sony to demonstrate how it could supply new technologies to carmakers, similar to how Apple‘s latest iPhone Pro currently uses Sony’s camera sensors. Furthermore, a short “concept movie” by Sony notes that “this content and prototype vehicle are intended to illustrate our future concepts.”
