Npower stipends — Nothing great last forever and this seems to be the case for 2016 beneficiaries of the N-Power programme as the scheme has announced that the youth empowerment program has successfully come to an end, Afriupdate reports.
It would be recalled that the minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, Sadiya Farouq on February during an interview with the press pointed out that the program was supposed to have ended and it’s beneficiaries employment terminated since 2018 as it was rightly supposed to, being that the program was originally supposed to last for only two years, adding that the program was created in order to support and help the ever increasing number of unemployed youths and graduates.

She also noted that the wise among the beneficiaries must have saved from their monthly stipends to cater for the future.
“I don’t know why there is fear, we know that the government had this programme in place to support our teeming unemployed youth, especially the graduates and it is supposed to be a two years programme”, she said.
“We started with the first batch in 2016 and they were supposed to have been exited in 2018 and we want to believe that most of them that are wise must have saved really from this stipend that they are been paid every month.
“Also, they must have learned some skills, so, I don’t think we should have this panic that these people don’t know their fate, they don’t know their future. From the onset (outset) they know that this programme would not be there forever.” she added.
But weeks after she made the statement, some beneficiaries of the scheme are yet to know when they will finally exit.
Afriupdate understands that the Federal Government N-Power beneficiaries are eagerly waiting for the payment of their monthly Npower stipends, 13 days into new month, April 2020.
