Martin Elechi, the Former Governor of Ebonyi State, southeast Nigeria has joined the league of philanthropic Nigerians combating the spread of novel Coronavirus in the country by donating the sum of ₦500 thousand.
Afriupdate reports that Elechi on Friday donated the sum five hundred thousand Naira (₦500,000.00) to Ebonyi State Government to aid the COVID-19 Fight and help Ebonyians cushion the effect of deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

This online news medium learnt that the support from the former Governor, Chief Martin N. Elechi (MFR) & His family, was received on behalf of the State Government by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru.
It would be recalled that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Saturday May 3 2020, confirmed two new cases of the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease in Ebonyi state.
With the two cases, the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Ebonyi state now stands at Five (5).
Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State Governor Chief Dave Nweze Umahi has lifted the ban on Commercial motorcycle operation popularly known as Okada within the capital city and also relaxed the curfew imposed on the state between 7pm and 7am despite spike in coronavirus cases.
Governor Umahi made the disclosure during a statewide broadcast on the update of preventive measures taken by the State government to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state.

The Governor stated that the lifting of the ban on Okada operation and the relaxing on the curfew followed the level of corporation by citizens of the state and announced that the ban still continues within 300 meters away from the different boundaries in the state.
