An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0 on the Richter scale jolted Gabela town in Angola’s western Cuanza Sul province at around 00:25 a.m. local time on Wednesday (2325 GMT Tuesday), an official said.
The epicenter was initially determined to be at 13.14 degrees south latitude and 14.65 degrees east longitude, according to Domingos do Nascimento, director general of the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics.
Nascimento also reported another earthquake which happened on Monday morning, around 10:09 a.m. local time (0909 GMT) for about five seconds and with a magnitude of 3.2 in Ganda municipality of Angola’s southern Benguela province.
The earthquakes, which were of low intensity, did not lead to any loss of human life, Nascimento added.
