Nigerien President Issoufou condoles with Zulum
The Borno Emirates Concerned Citizens Forum (BECCF) has urged the National Security Adviser (NSA) to end Boko Haram terrorism in the country.
Boko Haram activities have claimed about 32,000 lives and property worth $9.2 billion (N3.42 trillion) in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states.
Chairman of BECCF, Zanna Boguma, said this yesterday at a news conference at Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Maiduguri.
While condemning the multiple attacks on Governor Babagana Zulum’s convoy, he said: “We practically solicit for our son, Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd), the NSA, come home and assess the level of insecurity of lives and property.
“He is to advise the President on actionable points that can end insurgency in the state.”
Boguma also reiterated the call on the Federal Government to strengthen the nation’s security architecture by providing troops with logistics to fight terrorists and end the war.
MEANWHILE, President Mahamadou Issoufou of the Republic of Niger has commiserated with Governor Zulum over recent attacks on his convoy.
Attacks on Zulum’s convoy by Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists along Monguno/Baga road on July 29 and September 25, 2020, reportedly claimed 30 lives.
While delivering a letter of condolence on Sunday, the Nigerien Minister of Education, Dauda Marte, commended Zulum for his tireless efforts in the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and resettlement (RRR) drive.
While lamenting over humanitarian crisis, Marte said: “No government can sustain the feeding of teeming displaced persons in camps and host communities.”
