Atletico Madrid could be beneficiaries of yet another Barcelona superstar in the upcoming months with a deal not being ruled out.
Luis Suarez switched pastures from Barcelona to Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window and since his move, the Uruguay international has been terrific for the Rojiblancos.
However, his understudy from last season and supposed replacement of this time out, Antoine Griezmann, has been far from good for the Blaugrana.
Griezmann scored his first goal of the campaign against Deportivo Alaves, but he has not done anything noteworthy since the start. The likes of Ansu Fati, Pedri and perhaps even Ousmane Dembele have greater faith bestowed into them by Ronald Koeman than the top-scorer of the 2016 European Championship.
In hindsight, the 29-year-old’s move to the Camp Nou has gone completely haywire. Despite forcing an exit from the Wanda Metropolitano and creating a fiasco over the situation, the French marksman has not lived up to the billing in any way and a bit more than one year since his arrival at the club, departing it looks like a very bright prospect.
According to reports, the ex-Real Sociedad striker could well be on his way back to Atletico Madrid. So far this season, Diego Simeone’s side has been in good form but the same cannot be said about Diego Costa. The latter is yet to prove his credentials in front of Joao Felix or Suarez and failure in doing so could see him leave Atletico.
Besides a return to his former club, Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann has also kept the door open on a move back to his home country, France. Paris Saint-Germain could be on the lookout for his signing with Kylian Mbappe likely to depart the club next summer for a lucrative fee, thereby helping them afford the World Cup winner’s national colleague easily.
