Barcelona might extend Ousmane Dembele’s stay at Camp Nou.
Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele was heavily linked to Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s Manchester United throughout the 2020 summer transfer window. However, United could not match the demands made by the Blaugrana and hence the move was not a success. There are many reports that suggest that the Red Devils will be coming back in the January transfer window of 2021 to make a move for Dembele once again, which will help Barca secure their many transfer targets.
However, things have now taken a turn for good as Barca failed to land Olympic Lyon’s Memphis Depay as a replacement for club veteran Luis Suarez. There were many reports that were suggesting that the club will surely be landing the player in the January transfer window of 2021 but it now looks like that move will not be a possibility as Lyon President has stated that in no way will they be selling the Dutchman any time soon.
Ansu Fati being out injured currently has turned all the attention to Dembele who has surprisingly been playing well this season. The Catalans had plans to offload the player in the upcoming transfer window but it now looks like they will be offering a new deal to the forward.
Multiple top tier journalists have reported that the Spanish giants have changed their mind about selling the former Borussia Dortmund winger. The reports also suggest that they will be offering the forward a new contract that sees him at the Nou Camp for a longer period of time. As the Catalans have failed to land the proper replacements, they have no option but to retain the current players that they possess.
The Spanish giants are currently focused on recovering from their economic crisis and while Dembele’s sale will help raise funds, the latest injury to Fati has forced their hand into making the French international remain at the Nou Camp as they lack the depth needed to succeed in a season that has been cursed with injuries and COVID-19 cases. Liverpool are one such team suffering, with the majority of their defensive lineup being out on injury. Barca want to avoid a similar situation and thus have decided to keep Dembele until a new President is elected and the club have secured reinforcements.
Hence, it looks like Ousmane Dembele will not be moving to Old Trafford in the January transfer window of 2021. He was heavily linked with a move to Manchester and link up with French teammates such as Paul Pogba and Antony Martial.
Should Barca keep or sell Dembele after his
