A little over a week after A$AP Rocky was released from prison in Sweden, the Harlem native made his return to the stage Sunday night (Aug. 11) at the Real Street Festival in Anaheim, Calif. Rocky headlined the festival, making it his first live performance since he was arrested and charged with assault in Sweden last month. He’s due to hear the verdict of his trial this Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Rocky was joined by A$AP Ferg, YG, and Tyler, The Creator during the set plus shared a heartwarming message during his performance.
“Y’all know how happy I am to be here right now, I wanna say this though,” he shared. “When I was away what I experienced was crazy… It was a scary, humbling experience but I’m here right now. God is good. People who ain’t even fuck with me felt sympathy. People was praying for me, that uplifted me when my spirits was low. I can’t thank y’all enough, man, that was crazy. Hip-hop never looked so strong together.” Watch the footage below, via YouTube user Irma Hernandez.
Rocky was arrested in July and charged with assault. Prosecutors allege that the rapper and two associates attacked Mustafa Jafari, 19. All three claim self-defense; Rocky has pled not guilty.
