2019 AFCON: Rohr Places Mikel On Standby, Unveils Squad

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has placed midfielder Mikel Agu on standby in his 25-man provisional list for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), afriupdate News report.

Long-time absentee and team captain Mikel Obi was included in the list having played last for the three-time African kings at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Familiar faces like Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, Odion Ighalo, Leon Balogun, William Ekong, and Kenneth Omeruo were all included in the list.

Leicester City star Kelechi Iheanacho is also in the team after missing a couple of games for the West Africans.

Those on standby for the side are Theophilus Afelokhai, Bryan Idowu, Ikouwem Utin, Mikel Agu, Junior Ajayi, and Valentine Ozornwafor.
