- Sporting bosses have reportedly travelled to London to discuss the move.
- The manager has not made any revelations concerning the negotiations.
- He said, however, that United are ready to spend on the right player.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to provide any specific comment on the reports linking the club with an imminent signing of Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes.
He did, however, imply that he ‘had the backing’ to act if the right deal can be made.
“I can’t talk about individuals that play for other clubs, but I’ve got to say I do have the backing,” the manager told beIN Sports.
“We do have the backing to do something if the right thing comes up in this window. The owners and Ed, they know what we’re building towards.”
According to multiple Portuguese sources, some senior figures at Sporting, including president Federico Varandas, travelled to London to discuss a potential Old Trafford move for Fernandes.
While the 25-year-old’s new release clause stands at a whopping £85 million, the Primeira Liga giants are said to be open to a £60 million deal.
