In an excerpt from her upcoming memoir, “The Woman in Me”, Britney Spears reveals that she was pregnant with Justin Timberlake’s baby before they decided to get an abortion. Spears says that Justin was “terrified” at the thought of becoming a father at such a young age, and that she and Timberlake decided to terminate the pregnancy together. The pair were 19 years old at the time.
Britney Spears claims she wanted the baby and dreamed of having a family with Justin Timberlake, but he was not ready for the responsibilities of parenthood and thought they were too young.
“He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young. ‘If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father”
She said, ‘It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated. I’m sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby.
‘I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.’
Britney Spears said that the abortion was one of the most agonizing things she has ever experienced in her life. All of this she revealed in her memoir, which will be released on October 24.
