David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, a popular Nigerian artist, recently disclosed that he gave a free performance at the inauguration ceremony of Alex Otti as the new governor of Abia State. Otti was sworn into office earlier this week.
This comes after he gave his first performance on Monday, May 29, in Umuahia, Abia state, during the inauguration event of the Labour Party Chieftain.
A Twitter user shared videos of the ‘Timeless’ crooner’s performance on the micro-blogging platform and made a surprising revelation about Davido’s relationship with Alex Otti, stating that he is his godson.
“Many don’t know but Davido is Dr. Alex Otti’s godson and he’s in Umuahia at the inauguration after-party where he’s giving a full performance.
It’s a full-blown show in Umuahia
”, he tweeted.
This triggered a flurry of responses online, with many people shocked by Davido’s relationship with the newly-elected governor of Abia state.
Considering their connection, a Twitter user openly questioned whether Davido was paid to perform at the ceremony.
Interestingly, the award-winning singer spotted the comment and responded by saying he was not paid a dime to grace the stage. He also confirmed that he has known the governor for a long time, and vouched for his credibility.
“Not a dime I’ve known Excellency all my life … and I’m sure he will do well for the people of Abia state 
”, he tweeted.
