In this edition of Afriupdate Weekend Artist Interview, we delve deep into the life of Nigerian’s young and fast rising rapper ”FBI”.

AW: You’re are welcome to Afriupdate Weekend artist interview, please we want to know you better.
Who is FBI?
FBI: My name is Abdulazeez khalid Amodu (born 30 april 2002), known professionally as FBI (sometimes called SamGold), am a Nigerian rapper and songwriter. I started recording music at the age of 11, with local drums at Church. I rose to prominence after releasing “Ghetto Prayers” which made me known in the street and industry at large. In 2019, FBI became a household name in the industry and also gained national recognition following my collaboration with Nigeria ‘A’ list artist “Oritse femi” on the global hit “Testimony” which really boost my career and made me know nationally.

FBI has won several rap battles both local and national. I have also been once featured by an international rapper Niner Young and we dropped a hit track back in 2019 which made FBI known internationally.
AW: How did you come up with the stage name FBI?
FBI: Growing up in the street was challenging and it takes those that can think outside the box to survive, I am blessed with so many talents, I do some many things, am a rapper, graphic designer, phone engineer, computer guru e.t.c so my Friends started calling me Fabulous boy because i became very famous in my community because of what i do, and people loved me each time i do freestyle they started calling me Fabulous boy Identify that’s where I carved out my stage name FBI.
AW: How did your parents and family feel about your decision to go into Music professionally?
FBI: Well, unlike most other artists i was lucky to have an understanding father who believed in me, and also has passion for music and was there for me as a motivating factor.
AW: We noticed some fans thinks you’re erigga when they listen to your songs, are you in anyway related to erigga?
FBI: Actually am not in anyway related to erigga. I rap based on my talent and inspiration, am not copying or imitating anybody.
AW: are you signed to any record label currently?
FBI: Not yet signed to any record label.
AW: With your hard flows, versatility and diverse arsenal of lyrics as an up rising star, i am confused, do you write your lyrics yourself or you have a ghostwriter doing the job for you?
FBI: No! No! No!, i wrote all my songs myself, i don’t buy music, i don’t pay someone to write for me.
AW: what do you enjoy most about being a musician?
FBI: Is my ability to pass out message freely to audience through my lyrics
AW: And what do you hate most?
FBI: huh! we’ll talk about that later

AW: Alright, which musician are you looking forward to doing a collaboration with
FBI: Oritse Femi, phyno, davido e.t.c
AW: what would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
FBI: I would have been an engineer, graphic designer or a blogger because i learnt them too, while growing up
AW: Have you ever had any crazy fans encounter so far?
FBI: Yea, many times.
AW: Your relationship status?
FBI: Not in any relationship for now
AW: Who’s your female celebrity crush?
FBI: I don’t have any
AW: Mr FBI we really love your recent single, “Ghetto prayers”, tell us about the song
FBI: Ghetto prayers is All about life struggle in the street, and looking up to GOD as the only solution to all life struggles.
AW: We realized your Ghetto prayers video is still making waves, what should we be expecting next after ghetto prayers?
FBI: something hotter, and better, because am currently working on something hot with the music legend Oritse Femi.
AW: If you could change anything about the industry,vwhat would it be?
FBI: changing the narrative of unnecessary ego by some artist in the industry.
AW: Finally, what would you like to add?, Briefly, what is your message to your fans?
