American rapper and Roc Nation mogul Jay-Z has officially joined Instagram.
The rapper who rarely surfaces on social media joined the photo-sharing app on Wednesday, following only one account.
Despite having a Twitter account since 2008, Jay-Z has only posted 269 tweets in the last 13 years. His last tweet was posted two days ago on Sunday, October 31, after his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
He wrote, “In my excitement, I failed to prize, and acknowledge JAZ-O, he was the hometown hero that made the dream tangible,” he said of his acceptance speech. “Thank you good man… ok let me lose this password for another year or so. Thank you all again, incredibly humbled by your love.”
By joining Instagram, fans of the rapper can now hope for photos of the hip hop billionaire.
Jay-Z only follows one person on his new Instagram account: his wife, Beyoncé.
His account has so far amassed over 1.4million followers with only one post. His one post with over 300thousand likes plugs his new Western Film The Harder They Fall, which he produced for Netflix.
The film’s soundtrack includes two collaborations between Jay-Z and Kid Cudi as well as Conway The Machine and Jadakiss.
The Harder They Fall features an all-star cast including Idris Elba, LaKeith Stanfield, Regina King, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo and Jonathan Majors.
“When outlaw Nat Love (Jonathan Majors) discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck (Idris Elba) is being released from prison, he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge,” the synopsis reads. “Those riding with him in this assured, righteously new school Western include his former love Stagecoach Mary (Zazie Beetz), his right and left hand men — hot-tempered Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth (R.J. Cyler)—and a surprising adversary-turned-ally.”
The Harder They Fall began showing in theatres on October 22 and will premier on Netflix on Wednesday, November 3.
