Louis Vuitton and its artistic director for menswear Virgil Abloh have presented the “Monogram Legacy” leather goods collection for Pre-Spring/Summer 2020.
Comprised of five unique offerings each inspired by the LV archive, these pieces combine the house’s iconic monogram canvas leather with tanned VVN leather for a luxe, contemporary twist on heritage accessories. The bags also feature various Abloh-infused design cues such as his gold-toned chain.
Abloh has taken the Louis Vuitton Mini Noé and developed the new Milk Box bag for Pre-SS20. This cross-body bag features a unique top-opening with gold-toned pin and chain closure, and is trimmed with the smooth tanned leather. Elsewhere Louis Vuitton presents the sure-to-be seasonal must have — the Phone Box — which also features the monogrammed canvas, VVN leather and hardware detailing. The Phone Box is perfect for carrying daily essentials and features a small flat pocket inside for cards.
Larger offerings come in the form of Saumur Messenger PM bag, which features two exterior pockets on its monogrammed body. Like the rest of the collection, the Saumur reflects upon LV’s heritage and comes equipped with an adjustable padded shoulder strap.
Rounding out the pre-season collection is the Cabas Voyage tote bag and the large Steamer PM, a messenger bag that was originally introduced in 1901. It can be carried by its VVN top handle or worn on the body, and is once again finished with Abloh’s signature chain and safety pin closure system. Lastly, a duffle bag following the same theme is set to release.
