We all have had relationships where it got bad because of our insecurities. Insecurity, like other bad habits, can be managed and avoided because if you decide to continue with it, it can make your relationships go south.
Below are some ways to manage insecurity in relationships:
Paranoid
Stop getting paranoid over nothing in your relationship. Your partner is likely to get tired when you ask questions about things that are not necessary. Avoid the temptation to snoop through your partner’s phone, Facebook messages, or email account. While this could temporarily calm your nerves when you see nothing afoul, it is also a behavior that could quickly become addictive, not to mention damaging for relationship trust when they your partner finally gets to find out. It should be avoided at all cost.
Love yourself
When you do not love yourself, it becomes difficult for you to believe others can love you unconditionally. Just like you shouldn’t invite a friend to your home while it’s a disorganized wreck, you shouldn’t invite a partner into your life while it is in disarray. Take care if your inner self before you invite anyone else to it. Learn to love yourself and do things for yourself.
It is not all about you
You have to stop thinking it is all about you when you are in a relationship, your partner might want to take some times for themselves in a relationship, it does not have to be about what you have or have not done. Stop psycho-analyzing every word choice your partner makes and be more present in the moment so you can notice the message behind their tone, physical presence, and posture. Obsessing with hidden meanings is a sure-fire way to miss the point.
Reassurance
It is a good thing to get reassured of your partner’s love for you. However, it might be a bad thing if you constantly press them to reassure you of their love for you. This will put them at a bad spot and screams out your insecurities to your partner. You will always seek for approval from them; this puts you at a bad spot with them
Insecurity kills relationships, so, work on your insecurities and get better.
