Grammy award winner Adele has announced November 19 as the release date for her new album “30”.
The singer announced the release date of her long-awaited album in a statement on Twitter today. Describing the album as her “ride or die throughout the most turbulent period of my life,” Adele wrote that she considered the album to be “that friend who no matter what, checked in on me even though I’d stocked checking in with them.”
“I’ve learned a lot of blistering truths about myself along the way,” she wrote. “I’ve shed many layers but also wrapped myself in new ones. Discovered genuinely useful and wholesome mentalities to lead with, and I feel like I’ve finally found my feeling again. I’d go so far as to say that I’ve never felt more peaceful in my life. And so, I’m ready to finally put this album out.”
In a recent interview with British Vogue’s Giles Hattersley, Adele described the album as her redemption. She said, “I feel like this album is self-destruction, then self-reflection and then sort of self-redemption.”
Adele also noted that the album explains her split from Simon Konecki for her son’s benefit “I just felt like I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness. It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal.”
This news comes shortly after Adele broke the internet in her first live video on Instagram over the weekend, where she played a snippet of a song off the album.
“30” is Adele’s fourth studio album following November, coming six years after her fourth album, 25 released in November 2015. At the 2017 Grammys, Adele won the Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album awards for 25. Her most popular single off the album Hello also earned her Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.
