Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NECLive), in collaboration with The Fasasi family, friends, colleagues and fans of Sound Sultan will today host an evening of music, poetry, dance, comedy and talk, in honour and celebration of Olanrewaju ‘Sound Sultan’ Fasasi.
This special event, which will be held at Terra Kulture, Lagos, will celebrate the extraordinary talent of Sound Sultan whose notable contributions can be seen in music, film, basketball and creative art. Tribute events organised by friends of the beloved icon will also be hosted simultaneously in London, New York and Atlanta.
According to Femi Falodun, CEO, ID Africa, the organisers of NECLive, “Sound Sultan was one of the earliest and most consistent supporters of the NECLive mission – both as a conference participant and as a leading contributor to the development of Nigeria’s entertainment and creative sectors.
“Sound Sultan’s physical form might have departed the world, but his unique voice, his conscious lyrics, his acts of kindness, his positive message and most of all, the wonderful memories he left us with will live forever in our hearts.”
Speaking on plans for the event, Henry Ekechukwu, The Coordinator, NECLive, said, “As we celebrate the memory of this remarkable entertainer, NECLive is bringing together everyone in the industry to pay tribute to Sound Sultan’s contributions to the development of creative talents in Nigeria and the continent as a whole. The evening will also feature the audience reliving the musical experience that Sound Sultan gave to us during his lifetime.”
Founder, Now Muzik and Chairman of the Organising Committee, Efe Omorogbe also indicated that the event is set to remind the world of the social impact of Sound Sultan.
“The tribute event provides a platform for the celebration of the glittering legacy of a truly remarkable human being who touched countless lives in profound ways,” he added.
