The Weeknd After Hours Album
Good news at last! The Weeknd has finally released his fourth studio album “After Hours” after months of teasing the project.
The singer released the long-anticipated album today after spending previous months releasing a handful of singles and music videos.
“After Hours” is a 14 track project and most surprising about it is that it boasts of no feature with other artistes.
This is a clear deviation from his last album “Starboy” that was released in 2016. “Starboy” had A-listers like Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, Daft Punk, and Future.
Speaking about the album to CR Fashion Book in February, he’s “confident” about the story he’s crafted for listeners.
“I feel confident with where I’m taking this [new] record,” he said. “There’s also a very committed vision and character being portrayed and I get to explore a different side of me that my fans have never seen.”
Hours before releasing his new album, The Weeknd dedicated After Hours to a longtime fan named Lance who recently passed away.
“RIP LANCE aka XOPODCAST. You were one of the true original backbones of my XO fanbase,” he wrote, commemorating the fan who ran both the XO Podcast and the @TheXOPodcast2 Twitter account. “Can’t believe I’m finding out about this today. I’m dedicating After Hours to you, my friend.”
The album’s release was also complemented with a new episode of Memento Mori and fittingly preceded by a short film featuring the title track.
It remains uncertain when The Weeknd’s upcoming After Hours World Tour would hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, thanks to the album’s release, fans can have new music to hold on to.
