‘John Wick 4’ is coming to cinemas and a new trailer has unveiled a fresh look at the beloved action hero.
The film’s trailer was unveiled on Friday after Keanu Reeves surprised the crowd at San Diego Comic-Con. Reeves made an appearance at a Comic-Con panel for his Boom! Studios title “BRZRKR.” After which he crashed Collider’s Directors on Directing panel in Hall H where “John Wick 4” drector Chad Stahelski was a panelist to debut the footage.
Wick is shown in the trailer carrying out his preferred method of avenging himself: using whatever weapon at his disposal. The most recent installment of the movie will undoubtedly feature just as much skull-bashing and gun-fu as its earlier chapters, as CinemaCon footage from back in April proved.
The last time viewers saw the fearsome assassin on screen was in the 2019 box office smash “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,” which also starred Halle Berry in charge of two terrifyingly lethal German Shepherds and included motorcycle-riding ninjas. Stahelski, a former stuntman turned director, is now raising the stakes.
Joining Reeves in the franchise’s newest film are Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins and Clancy Brown. Ian McShane is also returning as Winston, the manager of the Continental Hotel.
Given that each film in the “John Wick” trilogy has outperformed its predecessor at the box office, it would appear that Lionsgate has high expectations for the fourth movie. The first installment of “John Wick” brought in $86 million globally in 2014, followed by “John Wick: Chapter 2” in 2017 and “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” in 2018 with $171.5 million and $327.3 million, respectively. For round four, Reeves and Stahelski are back to surpass themselves one more.
“John Wick 4” is written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch and premieres in cinemas in Mark 2023.
