Director Todd Phillips has shared a new look at Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming Joker: Folie á Deux.
The filmmaker debuted a brand new photo of Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, who can be seen standing in the rain with a content look on his face people holding colorful umbrellas pass by him. “Oct. 4. Thanks for all the messages. Four years ago we had quite a ride. Lots of great memories. More to come,” Phillips wrote in the caption, noting that the sequel will hit theaters exactly one year from now.
Folie á Deux will star in Phoenix and introduce Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. Phillips previously stated that the sequel will be a “full-blown musical,” with the plot seemingly following the love story of Fleck/The Joker and Quinn as it is mostly set within the walls of Arkham Asylum. Joining Phoenix and Gaga in the cast are Zazie Beetz, who reprises her role as Sophie from the first film, as well as Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey.
