ORIGINAL STORY (July 24, 2019): Taika Waititi’s newest film, JoJo Rabbit, has released the official teaser trailer ahead of its release later this October.
Based on Christine Leunens’ book Caging Skies, the dark comedy satire tells the story of a boy named Jojo (played by Roman Griffin Davis) growing up during WWII in Germany, whose only friend just so happens to be an imaginary Hitler (Taika Waititi). When the boy finds his mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a Jewish girl (Thomas McKenzie), he’s forced to confront his skewed view of the world around him.
Within the trailer, Waititi’s satirical depiction of Hitler is shown after Jojo runs away from a group of bullies, sharing to the boy that he was also bullied and criticized as a lunatic and a psycho.
You can watch the teaser trailer for JoJo Rabbit below. The film hits theaters on October 18.
