A 24-year-old final year student of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (MOUAU), Abia state, Oluomachi Nwoye, has given birth to a set of five babies at the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia.
The quintuplets, comprising two boys and three girls, who are said to be the first set of quintuplets to be delivered at the medical center, were born at 9:15 pm on Monday, October 3.
Vanguard reports that the two boys are receiving special attention at the “in-born unit” of the hospital.
Oluomachi’s mother, Mrs. Priscilla Nwojo, who noted that she is delighted by the gift of quintuplets to her daughter and believes such unique blessings often come with their own challenges, appealed to the government and well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the family.
According to her, it’s not easy to take care of one baby, let alone five.
“I thank God for this special gift. I’m a trader. I deal on pap and my husband is a tailor. We will be happy if Government can come to our help because it’s not easy to take care of one (baby), not to talk of five. But we thank God in everything”. She said.
It was gathered that, as of Tuesday afternoon, October 5, the father of the quintuplets was yet to show up at the hospital.
