The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has challenged the Committee of Vice Chancellors to work in harmony to ensure that corruption is alienated from the university administration in the country.
The EFCC gave the charge when a delegation from the Ibadan Zonal Office of the commission paid a courtesy visit to Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State, Prof. Eyitayo Ogunbodede, on Tuesday.The leader of the team and Zonal Head of the Commission’s Ibadan Office, Friday Ebelo, said: “The university environment is a place that raises leaders, where morals are built and a where full individual is moulded to become what he wants to become in the future.
“We need to create high standard in the university system because most of the young ones that pass through the university look up to those who hold strategic offices.”Ogunbodede, while receiving the delegation commended the EFCC’s engagement of strategic stakeholders in the fight against corruption, describing it as portending great hope for the country.
In another development, authorities of University of Ibadan (UI) have urged members of the public to disregard the purported admission cut-off marks being bandied around in the social media.Also, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has said that the new educational policy of his administration aimed at repositioning the sector towards improving the performance and rating of students of the state in all external examinations.
