Mexico boxer Canelo Alvarez has apologized to Lionel Messi for threatening to harm him after Argentina’s 1-0 win over his side in the World Cup.
He tweeted: “These last few days I got carried away by the passion and love I feel for my country and I made comments that were out of place so I want to apologise to Messi and the people of Argentina.
“Every day we learn something new and this time it was my turn.”
Alvarez got really angry after seeing a video of Messi mistakenly stepping foot on the Mexico jersey in post-match celebrations after the World Cup group game.
He threatened to beat up Leo and his insults were slammed by Mexican captain Andres Guardado as well. It seems like Canelo has finally seen his faults and is at least man enough to admit his mistake as well as say sorry to Messi.
